If you want to make a statement that screams I blog, jumping on the contrasting prints bandwagon is a great way to do it. I hear over and over that this isn’t a trend for the faint-hearted, but I disagree. My grandma pulls this look out of the closet weekly, and I wouldn’t call her confident. However if you are feeling fashion-shy, try contrast in moderation (or at night …check out Peter Alexanders latest range of floral PJ’s). As a general rule, the brighter and more striking the prints are, the better the effect. But if you are worried about looking like a fireworks display, play up a print with accessories, choose prints that share core colours or match the same print in a blazer and pant combo.
General Rules of Thumb
General Rules of Thumb
- Wear a large print with a smaller. This usually works best when the small print is worn on the bottom.
- Whatever combinations you choose, just remember to stick to two contrasting prints at a time so you don’t go over the top.
- Add a belt to separate the two patterns or wear a blazer to pull it all together.
